Who Can Use Talking Screen?

Talking Screen software, users select pictures and symbols that communicate what they are feeling or thinking. Many Talking Screen users have experienced a dramatic growth in language development as a result of using the software. Clinicians and educators also use the software to conduct user assessments, trainings, and evaluations.

Flexible and Easy to Use
Talking Screen makes it easy for clinicians and others to program communication displays using a single symbol or as many as 128 symbols. As the user's language skills develop, simply reprogram Talking Screen to accommodate the increased vocabulary. A step-by-step training video shows you how. Talking Screen also allows you to import symbols and pictures from a variety of sources, including commercially available clip art, photos, CD-ROMS, and the Internet, and to edit those symbols to meet your unique needs. Talking Screen can even play full-motion video and record sound--something that will give young users hours of fun at the computer keyboard.

Loaded with New Features
Talking Screen now features a word processing page that makes it easier than ever to create documents. The top half of the screen displays your document, while the bottom of the screen displays a keyboard with function keys and letters of the alphabet. The user types a document by touching the individual letters on the keyboard. When you begin typing a word, Talking Screen's word prediction feature displays function keys that contain the six most frequently used words that begin with those letters. The user then selects the appropriate key, and Talking Screen instantly types the remainder of the word. In addition, Talking Screen features next word prediction, where the program actually learns your word patterns and automatically offers you the last six words you used in conjunction with the previous word. The word prediction database can contain up to 5,000 words and can be easily modified to include new vocabulary. As lan-
guage skills become more sophisticated, the user can transition from Talking Screen to our E Z Keys software.

Programmed to Perform
In addition to communication, Talking Screen allows you to use symbols or sequences of symbols to perform certain functions, such as synthesizing speech, recording sound, or playing full-motion video. And with Talking Screen you can choose from a variety of software voices to communicate your message, as long as the voice conforms to standardized Microsoft® speech (SAPI). A variety of access modes are available, including touch screen, mouse, joystick, switch scanning, trackball, and HeadMouse™. And remember, we provide free software updates!
